Living the conventional methods and trying something new called zero waste living might feel tricky, but by following few easy ways, you can conveniently switch to sustainable living. Here in this blog, Reall.pk has enlisted 5 easy ways to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle easily. Let’s get started:
Say no to plastic bags:
Do you know that plastic bags waste is a major culprit of endangering many water species and getting air polluted? Around the world, organizations are running campaigns, and many countries like Pakistan have banned the use of plastic bags to cope with the situation.
In 2019 it was announced that no plastic bags would be used anywhere all over the country. People are encouraged to bring reusable bags from their homes. Ministry of Climate Change has stated that in 1990s, 12 million bags were used, and the usage has increased to 55 billion in 2007.
Plastic bags are not decomposable, and if they are burnt, the bags release harmful gases. Eventually, the waste bags float in the water and endanger sea species. You can ditch the plastic bags and use stainless steel or other containers to keep things in store.
Prefer reusable products:
It is better to use recycled products and reusable items, for instance; instead of plastic soda bottles and glass, use stainless steel water bottles and homemade cleaner containers and bottles. You can use metal and glass products as they are easily recycled.
Use and apply DIY:
Repair products and use them instead of buying a new one. Use products like metal and glass for multiple things. For instance, use an empty glass jam bottle to keep your spices instead of buying a new one. Likewise, while you are traveling, instead of using plastic cutlery, bring pots from home and use napkins.
Moreover, before throwing something out, you should check out the internet for DIY tips and use the product until it is usable. In Pakistan, many women are experts in DIY’s for instance, shopping bags made of old clothes like jeans are not uncommon in many houses in Pakistan.
Donate:
Donating is encouraged in our religion, and it has many worldly benefits too. For instance, donating things that can help a needy person and act as a big step in reducing waste. You can donate almost anything like curtains, clothes, bed sheets, and even old furniture items. Make sure you are donating usable things if these are torn or wear out badly, check out for recycling and reduce wasting. Old furniture items and books can be sold to brokers who deal with second-hand items.
Prefer Pre-loved items:
Buying is a necessity, and with time we all need to purchase new things. Here you can apply an eco-friendly lifestyle approach and prefer buying pre-loved or second-hand items. It will also save lots of your budget, and you will end up buying things that are robust and beautiful, providing a traditional glimpse.
Let’s wrap it up:
A sustainable lifestyle and eco-friendly approach is not a luxury – it is the necessity of time. There are lots of ways to attain zero waste lifestyle eventually. For instance, you can make your bedroom by using the ‘going green approach. Electric vehicles are also a great initiative in the ‘going green’ campaign.
